Online grocery retailer Ocado has secured a 55,000 sq ft unit at Indurent Park Stoke Central near the A500 in Stoke-on-Trent. The company said the new base would create hundreds of jobs and is expected to be operational later this year.

Indurent, the site operator, confirmed that Ocado had agreed a 15-year lease for the final available unit at the park. The facility includes solar panels on its roof and has charging infrastructure for the firm's electric vehicles.

Danny Kennedy, from Ocado, said: "While work has only just started, we expect the site will be up and running later this year, creating hundreds of new jobs in the process."

Ocado employs approximately 20,000 people globally. The company said the Staffordshire location would allow it to "deliver to even more customers".
