Terms of use
Last updated: September 2026
These terms apply to Stoke-on-Trent Gazette (https://stoke.localgazette.co.uk) and other sites in the Local Gazette network. By using this site you agree to them.
Using the site
- Content is for personal, non-commercial reading unless we agree otherwise in writing.
- You may link to our articles. Do not scrape, republish or frame our content as your own.
- Do not attempt to disrupt the site, overload our servers, or misuse forms and APIs.
Accuracy
We aim for accurate local reporting and attribute sources. News moves quickly and errors can happen. See our editorial policy for how we correct mistakes. Content is provided as-is and is not professional advice (legal, financial or otherwise).
Third-party links and ads
Articles may link to original sources. We may show advertising (including Google AdSense) and sponsor slots. Third-party sites and advertisers have their own terms and privacy policies — we are not responsible for their content or practices.
Local Gazette advertising subscriptions
- Monthly sponsorship plans are rolling subscriptions billed by Stripe. Local Gazette is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is charged. Paid placements are clearly labelled and do not influence editorial decisions.
- Delivery depends on the selected plan and active town edition. Newsletter inclusion is provided when that town's qualifying newsletter issue sends; it is recorded in the advertiser's monthly fulfilment log.
- Sponsored updates must be lawful, factual and supplied or approved by the advertiser. We may edit for clarity, labelling and house style, or decline unsupported claims.
- Performance reports show aggregate first-party placement impressions and website clicks. We do not guarantee traffic, enquiries, rankings, sales or any other commercial result.
- You may cancel through Stripe's billing portal from your checkout confirmation page, or by emailing advertising@localgazette.co.uk. Cancellation stops future renewals; service normally continues until the end of the paid billing period.
- Founding prices remain fixed only for the stated founding period. We will give at least 30 days' notice before a later price change.
One-off digital advertising and notices
- The one-off booking price is £149 total for one approved digital advert or notice in one UK town edition. Local Gazette is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is charged. This is not a subscription and does not include recurring placements, a banner campaign, newsletter inclusion or network-wide coverage.
- Payment does not automatically publish copy. Final wording, suitability and publication date must be agreed separately. Requested dates are not confirmed until we agree them in writing. If we cannot accept the advert or agree a suitable date, we will refund the payment.
- We supply a live publication link and dated confirmation after publication. We do not produce a printed newspaper or guarantee acceptance of a statutory notice by any licensing or regulatory authority. Applicants remain responsible for their application requirements.
- Paid content is clearly labelled. Customers must have permission to use supplied words, logos and images. No traffic, enquiries, search rankings or commercial outcome is guaranteed.
Paid directory and job listings
- Standard directory and job submissions are free. Every submission is reviewed and may be refused if it is misleading, unlawful, irrelevant to the town or otherwise unsuitable.
- Featured Directory is a rolling monthly Stripe subscription. Featured status gives priority directory placement and a visible badge while the subscription is active.
- Featured Jobs is a one-off Stripe payment for priority placement and a visible badge during the 30-day listing period.
- Local Gazette is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is charged on displayed directory and job prices.
- Paid placement does not guarantee traffic, enquiries, applications, sales or search rankings.
User submissions
If you submit tips, directory/jobs listings, marketplace posts or advertising enquiries, you confirm the information is lawful and accurate, and you grant us permission to publish and moderate it. We may refuse or remove submissions that breach these terms or our editorial standards.
Image rights and licensing
Images are protected by copyright and are not licensed for reuse unless a caption, source or separate written agreement says otherwise. Copyright normally remains with the photographer, creator or supplying organisation named in the image credit. A source credit does not transfer those rights to Local Gazette.
To request permission or ask who controls the rights to a particular image, use our contact page. We will either confirm the available terms or direct you to the credited rights holder.
