Dog lovers across Stoke are invited to the Big Staffy Stroll – the region's biggest-ever Staffordshire Bull Terrier dog walk – taking place at Weston Park on Saturday 18 July. The free-to-walk event marks the grand finale of the 10-week Staffy Trail, a celebration of the county's beloved mascot. Everyone and their dogs are welcome to join, though organisers are hoping for a record turnout of Staffordshire Bull Terriers.
The event kicks off at 10am with a guided tour through Weston Park's stunning Capability Brown parkland, revealing hidden gems beyond the usual routes. Visitors can access discounted admission for £6.50 per person, with children under four entering free. This includes entry to the Woodland Adventure Playground and access to the 1,000 acres of grounds that make Weston Park a key destination for Stoke families.
Throughout the day, refreshments will be available along with information about local days out. Volunteers from the Senior Staffy Club Dog Rescue will be present, a charity that has been supporting older Staffordshire Bull Terriers for 14 years. The organisation is opening new kennels in Stafford next year, expanding its vital work across the region.
Robin Hall, Staffordshire County Council's Cabinet Member for Economy and Skills, highlighted the importance of the event. He said: "Staffy has become a fantastic ambassador for Staffordshire, helping us showcase everything that makes our county special." The Big Staffy Stroll represents a unique opportunity for Stoke residents and visitors to celebrate the breed while enjoying one of the area's most treasured estates.
