Gladstone Pottery Museum will open for free on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 December when its Ceramic Makers Market returns for a fourth year.

More than 60 ceramic artists and makers are expected at the Stoke-on-Trent museum, with the market open from 11am to 4pm on both days.

The event will feature tableware, tiles, sculpture and studio ceramics, with visitors able to meet makers and buy their work directly.

Pottery Throw Down contestants to attend

Stoke-on-Trent City Council says Bill Rolls and Elham Hessavi, contestants from series nine of Channel 4’s The Great Pottery Throw Down, are among the confirmed exhibitors. Local makers and ceramicists from further afield, including Surrey’s EpsomPots, will also take part.

Visitors will be able to explore the museum’s historic buildings and collections while browsing the stalls.

The market provides a chance to visit during Gladstone’s normal winter closure, which runs from 26 October to 2 January.

Free admission

Admission to the museum and market will be free on both days, according to the council.

Councillor Sarah Hill said the event was an opportunity to celebrate the makers continuing Stoke-on-Trent’s ceramics tradition.

The council’s supplied photographs show examples of ceramics at the market; the 2026 event takes place on 12 and 13 December.
