Specialist contractors are removing fire-damaged trees from Sandyford Park as recovery work continues following the recent blaze.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council said the trees had been assessed by specialists and identified for removal because of damage caused by the incident.
The operation is scheduled for Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 September. Contractors will use specialist vehicles and machinery, with access to the site through Sandy Road.
Recovery work continues
Since the fire, the council has worked with residents, emergency services, insurers, contractors and community partners. The authority said this had included asbestos inspections and clearance, structural assessments, securing affected areas and helping residents obtain support and advice.
Council leader Jane Ashworth said: “We recognise that residents have experienced significant disruption following the fire and we would like to thank the community for its continued patience and understanding.”
She said removing the damaged trees was another important part of the recovery effort and was necessary for the safety of residents, park users and people working on the site.
The council warned that the work could cause temporary disruption while specialist machinery is operating.
