Luke Graham has joined Stoke City as a defender from Scottish Premiership side Dundee, arriving at the club at the start of the month. The 22-year-old came through Dundee's youth set-up before making his breakthrough last season.
Graham won both the players' player and young player of the year awards at Dundee last season, featuring in 41 appearances across all competitions.
Perfect place to develop
Speaking to BBC Radio Stoke after settling in during pre-season, Graham said his move to Stoke City represents the next step in his career. "This feels like the next logical step," he said. "Working with the coaching staff on the pitch every day, it's only going to make me a better player."
Graham highlighted Stoke City's defensive strength last season as a key reason for joining. The club finished 17th overall but conceded just 56 goals — fewer than all but the top four teams in the Championship.
"The players you've got in the defensive areas are top, top players," Graham said. "There's real good competition at the back to try to get in the team every week. That's what edges you to give that extra 10% in training."
The Scottish defender has played in every division in Scotland and views the Championship as the logical next stage. "I think this is a perfect place to do that," he added.
