A £1.5 million highways improvement scheme in Kidsgrove will begin on Monday 5 October, Staffordshire County Council has announced. The work will focus on Gloucester/Newchapel Road in the town.
What the work involves
The scheme includes structural repairs to the road before resurfacing, along with repairs to the mini roundabout. Crews will also repair drainage systems and replace damaged kerbs and ironworks where required.
The project is expected to take around three months to complete.
Road closures and diversions
To allow work to be carried out safely, Gloucester/Newchapel Road will be temporarily closed from 9am to 3pm each day for structural repairs. Resurfacing work will be carried out overnight from 8pm to 6am to minimise disruption for residents.
A signed diversion will be in place throughout the project, routing traffic via Whitehall Avenue, William Road, Galleys Bank and White Bridge Road. Access to properties along the works will be maintained where possible.
Help keep work on schedule
Patrick Allen, Cabinet Support Member for Highways at Staffordshire County Council, urged residents not to park vehicles within the work area during daytime and night-time closures. He said: "Keeping the area clear of vehicles will help the teams get the work done quickly and safely without unnecessary delay."
Allen described the scheme as "an important scheme for the town and one of many planned for the borough over the next year" as part of wider investment in roads across Staffordshire.
