Staffordshire Police and Stoke Council have seized an illegal motorbike in Longton as part of a major crackdown on anti-social behaviour. A 21-year-old rider was spotted tearing across Anchor Road without a licence, insurance or MOT before attempting to escape into an alleyway off Short Bambury Street.
Anti-Social Behaviour officers and PCSOs tracked the rider safely and apprehended him when the bike stopped. The rider cooperated with authorities and admitted the driving violations. The motorbike has been impounded and the rider reported for multiple offences under traffic law.
The seizure is part of Operation Transom, a joint initiative between Staffordshire Police and Stoke Council targeting illegal off-road biking across the area. The operation focuses on riders who damage green spaces and put members of the public at risk. Councillor Duncan Walker highlighted how visible policing in communities makes a real difference to tackling these issues.
Stoke Council is running an education programme to inform residents that riding off-road bikes in parks, on pavements and wasteland is illegal. Local people who spot nuisance biking are encouraged to report sightings to [email protected] or call 01782 233400.
