Stoke-on-Trent City Council is urging residents to attend remaining consultation events on the proposed Local Plan, which will guide development across the city through to 2040.
Hundreds of residents have already attended 10 of the council's 15 planned drop-in consultation sessions. The remaining events offer a final opportunity to speak directly with planning officers, ask questions, and understand what the Local Plan means for their communities.
What is the Local Plan?
The proposed Local Plan sets out policies and site allocations that could influence where new homes and other development take place, how land is managed, and what type of infrastructure will be needed to support growing communities.

Remaining consultation events
Drop-in sessions have already taken place in Fenton, Norton Green, and Birches Head. There is no need to book to attend any remaining sessions — residents can simply turn up to speak with council officers.
This is the final stage of consultation, known as Regulation 19, before the Local Plan is submitted to an independent government inspector for examination. The consultation ends at 11.59pm on Monday 14 September.
The council aims to submit the Local Plan to the independent government inspector in December 2026. The inspector will then consider whether the proposed Plan meets the required tests and is legally compliant.
