Burslem's Grade II-listed Market Hall on Queen Street is being restored to life after standing empty for over 20 years. Stoke council has launched a major public consultation to let the community decide what the iconic building becomes next. A £4 million repair programme is already underway, backed by the government and Historic England.

The future uses could include food and drink venues, independent shops, live events, community spaces, and leisure facilities. The council is considering a mix of activities designed to bring people to the Stoke city centre location throughout the day and into the evening. Local residents now have the chance to shape what happens to this landmark building.

The public engagement period is now live, with an online survey running until Monday 15 June. Two drop-in sessions give Stoke residents the opportunity to speak directly with the project team. Sessions are held at Barewall Art Studio on Thursday 28 May (10am-7pm) and at 32 Queen Street on Wednesday 10 June (10am-7pm).

Specialist regeneration firm Next Phase is handling the consultation process. Beyond the public sessions, the team will be meeting with local Stoke businesses and young people separately over the coming weeks to gather wider community input.

This regeneration project represents a significant opportunity for Burslem residents to have a real say in their neighbourhood's future. If you want to influence what this historic building becomes, complete the online survey or attend one of the drop-in sessions before the deadline.
