Two Stoke shops have been permanently closed by the council after repeatedly selling illegal tobacco to customers. Longton Drinks Limited Vape Shop and Victoria Eastern European Food both received closure orders on Thursday 21 May, following previous three-month shutdowns that failed to stop their criminal activity.
Trading Standards investigators discovered counterfeit cigarettes and tobacco during test purchases and raids at both Stoke premises. Longton Vape Shop was caught selling fake tobacco five times despite earlier warnings, while Victoria Eastern European Food sold counterfeit cigarettes after reopening in February. The council says both businesses were using their legitimate operations as a front to sell illegal products.
Councillor Amjid Wazir said the permanent closures in Stoke protect young people and support honest traders operating legally. "You will face serious consequences if you choose to sell products illegally," he warned those considering similar activity.
Residents in Stoke concerned about illegal tobacco sales can contact Trading Standards directly on 01782 238884 to report suspected criminal activity. The council says it remains committed to tackling this issue across the area and protecting consumers from counterfeit goods.
