Port Vale's forward crisis has deepened following an injury update from manager Jon Brady at Thursday's press conference, leaving the Football League's bottom-placed side with minimal striking options as they attempt to reverse their poor form.
Loan forward Mo Faal, who was expected to provide attacking support this season, is now set to be sidelined for a considerable time. Brady told the media: "I would say it could be towards the end of this year at least."
The situation is compounded by the ongoing absence of summer signings Max Watters and Tyreece Simpson. While Watters has begun training sessions, Simpson remains several weeks away from full fitness.
Limited attacking resources
With these key players unavailable, Port Vale must rely on New Zealand international Ben Waine as their sole established forward option. Rookies Ollie Lynch and Keyrol Figueroa provide backup, though both have managed just six League appearances and one goal between them in their early careers.
Vale have scored just one goal from open play this season, highlighting the severity of their striking problems.
Brady's frustration and recruitment changes
Brady acknowledged the challenge, telling the media: "It has been hugely frustrating but we can't sit and moan about it. We have to find the solutions and get on with it."
The club's recruitment chief Lee Darnborough is set to leave his post in the coming weeks, amid questions over the summer transfer strategy.
